Accessibility

We want everyone who visits our website to feel welcome and find the experience rewarding, so we are actively working towards increasing the user experience and accessibility of our website to conform to Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. This means testing that the contrast ratio of the designs is 4:5:1 or above for normal text and graphics; and 3:1 or above for large text.

These guidelines set out how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and user friendly for everyone.

There is a lot that goes in to ensuring we are conforming to these guidelines and the following helps to explain some of the ways we have or are working towards them.

What have we done?

Font and text size

We’ve used clear, legible font for all text and headings. If the font is too large/small for you, you can increase the font size, images and other elements on the page by holding the ‘CTRL’ (CMD on a Mac) and ‘+’ or ‘-‘ keys on your keyboard.

Images, videos and other multimedia

We aim to ensure all images, audio, video and other multimedia have text equivalents. We’ve done this by providing descriptive ‘alt’ attributes for them or providing a transcript of the recording. Images which are purely for visual enjoyment may have empty alt attributes.

Scripts

Our website relies on JavaScript to enhance usability and improve the overall user experience. We recognise that this may not work for everyone, so we are continuously evaluating ways to improve accessibility and exploring potential alternatives for key pages in the future.

iFrames

We try not to use iFrames (which involves embedding a portion of our website or another website within our pages) as we know these are a barrier to accessibility. There are a limited number of pages on this site which does use iFrames and we are actively looking at ways to remove these.

We want to hear from you if you encounter any accessibility barriers on our website. Please contact our team at webteam@evelyn.com.
